What is a multihomed BGP network?

Multihoming is the connecting of a network to two or more providers using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), the routing protocol used on the internet. Why have a multihomed BGP network? If you have a single connection and it goes down, you’ll be left offline until that that service provider is restored. In addition, one of the benefits of being multihomed is it brings increased stability and diverse path connectivity to the internet and redundancy at a physical level within the datacenter and externally.
